Diabole cubensis (Arthur & J.R. Johnst.) Arthur

Description
Telia on both surfaces of leaflets, subcuticular, erumpent, bordered by torn epidermis, linear to ellipsoidal, 0.5‒1.5 mm long, scattered or in groups, reddish brown.

Teliospores globose, subglobose, hemispherical or reniform, apex rounded, reddish brown, 15‒23 × 10‒16 µm, in groups of 1‒4; wall 1.0‒1.5 µm thick, thickened at apex, verruculose; pedicel persistent, 5‒9 × 4‒6 µm, pale brown above becoming subhyaline below.

In 1996-1999, Diabole cubensis was introduced into the Northern Territory to control the weed Mimosa pigra. It was thought to have failed to establish until its detection 16 years later (Burrows et al., 2012).
