Description
Uredinia on chlorotic leaf spots up to 1 mm diam., often coalescing into larger irregular chlorotic spots up to 5 mm across, adaxial, round, bullate, scattered or in groups, often in concentric rings, up to 250 µm diam., yellowish brown.

Urediniospores subglobose, ellipsoidal or obovoid, yellowish brown, 25‒30 × 22‒26 µm; wall 2‒3 µm thick, apex up to 9 µm thick, echinulate, with 4 scattered germ pores.

Telia on leaves, abaxial, often surrounding uredinia, polygonally irregular, bordered by the veins, up to 400 μm wide, coalescing, subepidermal, dark brown to black.

Teliospores oblong or broadly ellipsoidal, in layers of 2‒4, with truncate or rounded ends, yellowish brown, 20‒36 × 10‒18 µm; wall 1‒2 µm thick at sides, up to 10 μm thick at apex in uppermost layer, smooth.
