Puccinia gnaphaliicola Henn.

Description
Uredinia on leaves and stems, mostly on lower leaf surface, densely aggregated on yellowish leaf spots scattered or in rings 2‒3 mm in diam., round, pulverulent, up to 0.5 mm diam., reddish brown.

Urediniospores globose, subglobose or broadly ellipsoidal, yellowish brown, 20‒29 × 19‒23 µm; wall 2‒3.5 µm thick, uneven, sparsely and finely echinulate, spore profile smooth to minutely echinulate, with 2 equatorial germ pores.

Telia on leaves and stems, mostly on lower surface, scattered or in small groups, round, compact, up to 0.5 mm diam., blackish brown.

Teliospores obovoid, ellipsoidal or fusiform, apex rounded or papillate, yellowish brown, 32‒54 × 19‒26 µm; wall 1.5‒4 µm thick at the sides, 5‒9 µm at the apex; pedicels persistent, hyaline, 40‒60 µm long.

Comments
Puccinia gnaphaliicola was first reported in Australia as P. investita by Morrison (1894, cited in McAlpine 1906) and treated by McAlpine (1906) under the synonym  P. gnaphalii (Hennen et al. 2005). Spermogonia and aecia are not known for P. gnaphaliicola.
