Puccinia liberta F. Kern

Description
Uredinia on both leaf surfaces, subepidermal, erumpent, linear, up to 0.5 mm, reddish brown, peridium present.

Urediniospores globose or mostly obovoid, apex obtuse, yellowish brown, 21‒26 × 17‒20 µm; wall 1.5‒2.5 µm thick, sparsely echinulate, with 2 equatorial germ pores.

Comments
Puccinia liberta was first reported from Australia by Simmonds (1966). Puccinia liberta has two equatorial germ pores on the urediniospores, which distinguishes it from other rusts on Eleocharis spp. (Kern 1919).
