Sori in the leaves, visible as flat brown orbicular non-erumpent spots 0.5–3 mm diam. or larger by confluence, often with a thin yellow border.

Spores embedded in the host tissue, solitary, in small groups or short rows, globose, subglobose, ovoid, broadly ellipsoidal or somewhat irregular with slightly flattened sides, 9–16 × 8.0–14.5 µm, subhyaline to pale yellow; wall ±uniformly 1.0–2.0 (–2.5) µm thick, smooth.
